Ball; 1st Grooming Slot Booked

Had a bit of time after getting the car serviced, so dropped by Petopia to kaypo and look-see. It was an eye-opener! Richard and Marcus greeted me at the doorstep and I was given a tour round the establishment. Truly impressive. Price may not be cheap but seeing how their customers (toking abt the dogs, not humans!) are treated, feel that it's worth every cent. Booked a slot for Scallop on 10th January.

Went Daiso after that and bought Scallop a proper ball (S$2 for 2) for his Christmas pressie. He seems to be very fond of it.

Water Bottle + Cheese Treats

Was at Simei to buy lunch and dropped by PLC again. There were two 3 months old MS pups for sale in the store and comparing to Scallop, they are like 3/4 of his size only! And they are so, so cute... Scallop has lost his cuteness with his big size... Sob sob! Pls stop growing Scallop...

Bought him a Mini Handi-Drink bottle (S$9.69) so that at least when out on walks, he'll have a clean supply of water. Also bought 2 packets of treats :
Bow Wow Lamb Cheese Sandwich - S$5.69
Bow Wow Cheese Roll (Cheese + Salmon) - S$6.64

'Virgin Walk'

Brought Scallop downstairs for his 'virgin walk'. He was not as resistant against the leash as the very 1st time. Maybe negated by the excitement of going out?

Brought him to the basketball court cos was informed by Cody's mama that the place has only one exit and is a good place for doggies to run about off leash. It's indeed a nice place. Will bring down his ping pong balls the next time so I dun have to run around with him...

After taking off his leash, he ran for half a round and promptly poo poo right in the middle of the court...

Running round the basketball court

Scallop, as whiny as ever...

Sprinting back to starting point

Scallop starts shivering the moment he's at heights

Like dog like owner?

Scallop was really tired out after that. Wasted no time lying down flat and promptly falling asleep when he's home after satisfying his thirst. Will give him his nightmare bath when he's awake. Hahaha!

Dr-Dogs

Scallop got his first socialization experience with other dogs today! We decided to bring him along to Dr-Dogs (http://www.dr-dogs.com/) to sign up for their Comprehensive Obedience Class Training over at Hougang Avenue 1. This particular school is different from others as it has a club - AKCC (Aljunied-Kembangan Canine Club) which is affiliated to Paya Lebar Zone 5 RC. We met up with trainer Stanley Koh and his coordinator Serene Leow half an hour before the start of their existing class to register and confirm Scallop into the next class (Sundays 4.30pm-6pm slot).

Stanley was kind enough to spare some time training Scallop to walk on a leash and this time around, Scallop was so much more accepting as compared to when he's at home. In the midst of the training, the first student, a mini poodle arrive! Poodle was literally pulling on his owner's leash to get close to Scallop! It was all such a funny spectacle! Scallop was totally stock still like a statue while Poodle was sniffing him from nose to tail! Hahaha! Pity we did not take any photos nor videos... :(

A short while later, the other students started arriving. The class has quite a number of Mini Schnauzers and Scallop quickly become the center of attraction being the new dog. It was real amusing to see him standing still and being mass molested by the other dogs, all the while with his tail down between his hind legs! Occasionally, he will start his own sniffing but only to dogs smaller in size... Overall, it's a good experience for him. Something we noticed, every single dog were pulling their owners to get to the training grounds as if they love their weekly sessions. We hope Scallop will be the same.

Cost of Scallop's class : S$420

Philips SalonShine Care Hairdryer

The current Philips hairdryer at home is too basic with simple high and low speed settings. The air it blows out gets hot really fast and Scallop seems very uncomfortable when we used it on him. For the past few times, we have to resort to putting him in front of the fan, switched the fan to the max and then use the hairdryer so the resultant mixture of air will be bearable.

Was at AMK Hub and came across this Philips SalonShine Care hairdryer from NTUC which has individual speed and temperature settings as well as a coolshot button for a shot of cool air. Comes with a 2 year warranty and costs S$39.

Personal washing machine, and now personal hairdryer... Scallop's life's really shiok...

Scense Mini Washing Machine

Poor me has been washing Scallop's : 'bedsheet', play towel, play socks, bathing towel, drying towel, mouth wet and dry towels, etc everyday and as a result of the chemicals, the skin from the tip of moi fingers have started to peel. It was especially bad today when I discovered that my right index finger was hurting with a minor injury that look like a cut from a pen knife. Geez, my flesh is rotting!

As such, decided to search for a mini washing machine instead to get the job done. Managed to find some used sets with price ranging from S$50 - S$70. In the end, settled for a "brand new, only used once to test" set from ebay sg for S$69.90. Self collected on the same night from Bukit Panjang.

Box wasn't in that great a condition :

Decided to install it next to main washing machine :

Eye + Ear Cleaners & Hateful Leash

Whilst waiting for wife, had an hour to spare in AMK, so dropped by AMK's Big Mac Centre PLC intending to get another bottle of ear cleaner as the current bottle at home is running low.
In the end, also bought a bottle of eye cleaner as well as a Rogz leash.

Hery Bio Eye Cleaner - S$17
Hery Bio Ear Cleaner - S$17
(Above is some French brand)
Rogz Fancy Dress Fixed Lead - Scooter (M) Rbones/Red - S$14.13

The same night, tried the leash on Scallop and he was so, so pathetic... struggling really hard whenever he can against the leash and had his feet firmly planted and refusing to move a single inch. Poor Scallop... :(

Apple Cider Vinegar + Dental Treats

Was at Parkway Parade yesterday morning and dropped by GNC to buy Scallop a bottle of Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (S$10.70). Had wanted to get Flaxseed Oil as well, but the price held us back. Need to read up a little more abt the benefits before committing.

Scallop was starting to get irritated of the twice daily routine of having a tooth brush stuck into his mouth, so we thought of reducing that to once a day in the night and to give him a dental treat in the morning. Dropped by PLC and got him a packet (S$5.50) which is the same brand as the toothpaste he's using.

2nd Vaccination

Exactly one month ago (5th November 2010) at approximately the same timing (1430hrs) was the first time we met Scallop in Yishun at the void deck of his mama's place. He was lethargic that day as he had his 1st vaccination that morning.

One month later, it was time for his 2nd needle. We brought him to Animal Recovery Veterinary Centre at Balestier for his 10.30am appointment. Scallop was attended by Dr Lim Ziyuan this time around together with no less than 3 other young mei mei nurses. Including the Doc, he had the full attention of 4 females! What a lucky pup!

Tipping the scales at 2.68kg, he seems to be growing nicely. His jab went along smoothly as was the tiny deworm tablet, and Dr Lim was kind enough to teach us how to properly clean his ears after commenting that he's suffering from a mild case of ear infection. We were quite shocked when she pushed in the cotton bud right into his ears! Apparently, all our efforts at cleaning his ears (with cotton wool wrapped around the 1st finger and poking into his ear canal) were barely touching the surface... Was prescribed with Panalog Ointment for his ears after cleaning.

Scallop was also diagnosed with mild skin fungus when we told the Doc of his frequent biting and scratching of his knee and elbow areas resulting in skin flakes. Was prescribed with Dezor / Nizoral Cream for the affected skin areas.

Following up on his kennel cough, Dr Lim believed Scallop's air tract is easily irritated, so prescribed Serrazyme Tablets to help sooth his air pipe.

Otherwise, his general well-being and teeth are fine.
Hopefully, he'll recover from everything and get to enjoy living the life of a 100% healthy dog soon.

Total cost @ ARC - S$146 (exactly the same amount as the 1st consultation!!!)

Scallop & Mop

Saturday is thorough mopping day. The mop has never failed to excite Scallop every single time it make it's appearance. Initially we tried to mop with Scallop roaming free but realised that there's no way the job can be done with him perpetually chasing after the mop and sliding and falling all the time.

Here are a couple of clips of Scallop last Saturday trying his paws at figure skating :

These days, he dun seem to like Mr Mop as much though... cos Scallop gets confined in his crate everytime Mr Mop appear... Haha!

Scallop's New Found Rabbit Den

Was napping in the living room last night after feeding Scallop's supper when suddenly heard him making some noises, got up and was looking everywhere for him but he was nowhere to be found... Then heard some noises in the dining area. Wa piang eh! Dunno how he managed to disappear into that enclosed area sia... Days before his arrival we had already reconfigured the dining table and benches so that there'll not be any space in there but yet...

Wife also woke up from her sleep and we observed Scallop's new found playground where he can enjoy being a rabbit... What a dog...

All these 'burrowing' came about since he started experimenting in the kitchen with the suspended cabinets almost a week before; and the following happened on the 28th Nov 2010, Sunday :

So much space for him to run about he dun wan... die die must follow his imaginary tunnel to reach his ping pong ball... faintz...

Scallop VS Baby Gate

4am in the morning... weather was pretty cool so we didn't switched on the air conditioner. Dreamt that Scallop was whining again... suddenly wife woke me up saying Scallop IS physically at the bedroom entrance whining!!! Wa piang! It wasn't a dream!
Put on my glasses and saw him sitting right by the entrance of the MBR and looking at us with his head tilted to one side... Investigations started to survey what mischief he had committed; the usual pee and poo poo found right by the baby gate outside the kitchen entrance. It's as if he's telling the gate : "See?! I pawned you! Have a taste of my pee and poo!"

Now the thing is, I definitely remembered putting him into his play pen the night before leh! How the hell did he managed to get out?!

So we put him back and started our observations :

Damn! He's one smart doggie!!

Too bad for him though...

Wahahaha! Back to bed for us... unfortunately, he was really spiteful and whined and howled for a straight 15 minutes before grudgingly admitted defeat and left us with peace and quiet for us to continue with our sleep...

Bigger Playpen Area

Weather is turning cooler with rain everyday. Noticed Scallop curling up like a ball when he sleeps in those conditions and wonders if he's cold. He's also growing bigger, so we decided to expand his play pen and put in a cushion which he can sleep on and be cosy as and when required.
Visited Kiddy Palace and bought a Lucky Baby Smart System Swing Back Gate (S$59) with 18cm extension (S$20) so we can extend his play area to the entrance of the kitchen.

Scallop doesn't seem very happy with the new thick white metal bars

With the increase of floor area to his home, the old position of the camera above the kitchen entrance was unable to cover the new area. As such, we have to relocate the camera to the top of the toilet entrance.
As usual, Scallop came to kaypo while the picture was being taken.

Check out his new place!

Scallop & Yellow Teddy

Weekend burnt due to ACTA course...

Introduced Scallop to Yellow Teddy on Friday night as a treat after he survived yet another torturous bath. It has effectively taken over the 'bottle-with-pebbles-in-a-sock' as his favourite toy.

A Typical Morning

Public holiday! Can afford to have a long blog entry :

Waky waky at 5.30am. Rain or shine, whether it's a weekday, weekend or a public holiday, it doesn't make a diff...

Our greetings on a good day. Pee and poo all contained within the pee tray, kitchen tiles totally stain-free. Good job Scallop! Pls try not to step on your poo next time though...

Scallop most eager to greet us in the mornings.

After clearing the pee tray and changing the newspapers, the next chore will be to sanitise and wash all items of clothing, be it toys, bedding, chewing material, etc.

Next the proper toys: home-made, brand new from shops, 2nd-hand, etc.

Warm water for Scallop's morning body wipe.

Immediately drying him with soft microfibre cloth.

Locked him in the crate so the floor can be sanitised peacefully, else he will be totally in the way trying to chase after the mop and falling over miserably every time.

Breakfast! 30grams of dry Fish4Dogs puppy kibbles plus half a teaspoon of MC Sheen UM Oil.

Waste no time gobbling up every single bit.

Next, brush teeth, clean mouth, and followed by a general brush through

Playtime!

Thirsty liaoz.

Continue play

Time to leave him alone

Pretty soon, he'll go to sleep

The hair under his paws seem kinda long...

Took the opportunity to give him a trim, wanted to cut his nails as well, but he was getting impatient, maybe later in the day then...
